JICF Statement of Faith

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, without error in its original manuscripts, and the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven where He now intercedes for believers.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit indwells all believers, convicting of sin, guiding into truth, empowering for godly living, and gifting for service.

Humanity

We believe that all people are created in the image of God but are separated from Him because of sin. Salvation is only possible through God’s grace.

Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is not earned by works but is a gift of God received through repentance and trust in Jesus Christ.

The Church

We believe the universal church is composed of all true believers in Christ. The local church is a community of believers committed to worship, discipleship, fellowship, and mission.

Ordinances

We believe baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances given by Christ to the church. Baptism is a public declaration of faith, and the Lord’s Supper is a remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice.

The Return of Christ

We believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead and to establish His eternal kingdom.

Eternal Destiny

We believe in the resurrection of the body, eternal life with God for believers, and eternal separation from God for unbelievers.
